Just watched Aayirathil Oruvan....Thought of writing a blog for quite a long time...here it goes with the review of Aayirathil Oruvan.
The movie starts with the search for Prathap Pothan(Plays the role of an archaeologist. He looks like Adimaippen MGR with no dialogues) who is believed to be dead during his mission to discover the lost Chola dynasty(??!!!).
Anitha (Reemasen), a team of Military officials lead by Officer Ravi(Azhagam perumal) & Lavanya(Andrea - Pothan's daughter) starts their mission to track down PPothan. Karthi plays the role of a coolie and he joins with the other three. Still thinking why this movie got the title “Aayirathil Oruvan” except that it had a song (adho andha paravai pol….) from the original Movie.
The first half of the movie has all the ingredients for a good movie. Andrea looks cool, neat performance from karthi too. I would say the real hero of the movie as Reema sen, she looks terrific through out the movie and is dangerously sexy. The song “Un mela aasa dhaan” sung by Dhanush, Andrea & Aishwarya (I guess) is pretty good… Sure it will hit the top in songs list….என் எதிரே ரெண்டு பாப்பா.. கை வச்சா என்ன தப்பா?... தப்பே இல்ல....Just see the song.
Well…lemme come back to the story, after much struggle they succeed in finding the cholas(Parthiban plays the role of the king and does excellent justice to his role), It is from this place the movie gets diverted and runs some where. Still trying to figure out that :P
Visual effects are fantastic, tremendous effort from Raamji the cinematographer, songs are pretty good. Neat performance from all the actors. Selva would have concentrated a bit on the second half…if he had been, the movie will be in different place. He should have definitely avoided Reema sen’s peeing scene & parthiban’s so and so scene with Reema…
But still... it was a brave effort by Selva…worth watching for the stuffs in first half.
